Our Scholarship Program empowers young people from the Palajunoj Valley to continue their education and become leaders who participate in improving their communities.
In 2012, Primeros Pasos began offering secondary education scholarships to eight students from the Palajunoj Valley. With the help of primary school teachers and principals, we identify children with academic potential and limited financial resources. Along with providing funds to cover school costs, our scholars and their parents are given monthly workshops focused on topics such as community leadership, self-esteem, and health. Each year scholars must also design and manage a project that benefits their community.
This project not only changes the lives of the students involved, but also creates a lasting impact in the lives of their family and community members.
