Service-Based Learning Volunteerism

Each year, Primeros Pasos receives upwards of one hundred volunteers from all over the world, including Guatemala. Volunteers range from 4th year medical students, doctors, RNs, nutritionists, and ordinary people who are willing to give up their time and improve the lives of the women, children, and men of the Palajunoj Valley. Volunteers range from 18 to 50 years old, and stay anywhere from 4 weeks to a year.

Primeros Pasos’ unique relationship with the University of San Carlos in Quetzaltenango and Guatemala City allows 4th year medical students and dentists to complete their rotations at the clinic, creating an atmosphere where international volunteers and Guatemalans can work together to improve the health of thousands of Guatemalans.
