My experience at Primeros Pasos refreshed my optimism for the future—for this community, for the world, and for the future of Public Health. Working with the Nutrition Program, I met many women in rural, indigenous communities and observed their living situations and health habits. These women are full of life, hope, and passion for making their communities and families healthier.

Specifically, when conducting home visits, many women shared that they had been using vegetables from their own garden to prepare healthy meals they learned from Scarlet. Hearing this made me proud of Primeros Pasos for the effort they put in to outreach and education. Being a part of a program that empowers communities, and particularly women, is a beautiful experience. Nos Vemos, Primeros Pasos!
